My eyes scan the thickly wooded areas of the Kopachuck State Park and I remind myself of how difficult it was to find this kind of scene in the Central Valley in California. Trading dry, dusty arid land for lush forest a scant few miles from the house is a pleasure.
The quiet peace fills my week long after I return to the car to head home.

Definitely lush. Only the hidden, north slope places here come close to being so verdant.
