Kopachuck Forests

My eyes scan the thickly wooded areas of the Kopachuck State Park and I remind myself of how difficult it was to find this kind of scene in the Central  Valley in California.  Trading  dry, dusty arid land for lush forest a scant few miles from the house is a pleasure.

The quiet peace fills my week long after I return to the car to head home.

Kopachuck State Park

Sunday afternoon at Kopachuck State Park.  All the visitors have long gone home.  The trails visited by a handful of people and seagulls.  It is cloudy and sprinkling and the morning fog is just lifting.  This is a beautiful spot.  Thick forest and a long stretch of stony beach...a perfect getaway after a busy week.

There are no crowds.  There is almost no one here.  It is peaceful and there is time to observe the oddities that nature presents....a single huge leaf caught in a tree wed of branches.

The Sound is gray and calm.  Although only a few miles from Gig Harbor, life runs in the slow lane here.
