Wetland Forest Ferns

Ferns seem to seek the best of both worlds.  They thrive when their roots are wet where other plants would not and they seek a bit of warmth from the sun as well.  They add delicate grace to this path in a protected forest.

A local treasure

Not a half block from the house there is a Forest that is protected from further development.  I hear it is a 50 acre plot but I'm not certain of that fact yet. The neighbors told me about it and how pretty the paths are and they are absolutely correct. It is a tranquil escape within an island escape...quite amazing. I stayed on one path but there seem to be several.  Botanical specimens are labeled here and there and wet land and streams are protected with above ground wooden path ways.  I'll wander with you for a day or two...
